You don’t often come across Anatolian Shepherd dogs … but you would certainly notice if you met Kurt and Kara.
I “bumped” into them on a walk last winter and chatted to their owner Tracy. I was fascinated by their stories … and their size! Tracy brought them both into the studio for a photoshoot – she is one of the volunteers at www.karasrescue.co.uk which rehomes and cares for Turkish Kangals and Anatolian Shepherd dogs. Tracy fell in love with Kurt when he came into rescue and she adopted Kara about four years ago.
Kurt was actually featured during a South East News programme last week – he stands at 7 feet tall – I can’t remember how much he weighs but he is the most gentle and well behaved dog!
Kara is certainly the more nervous of the two and Tracy has worked incredibly hard to rehabilitate her so that she can enjoy life a little more.
Tracy also runs “Hairy Poppins” which you can find here – she’s based in Chatham and offers many pet related services, including home visits, walking and training.
